    Coach Jason Smith is beginning his 30th year with the Sequatchie County School system. From 1992 - 2000, he was employed at Sequatchie County Middle School. From 2000 to present, he has been a teacher and coach at Sequatchie County High School. During his time at SCMS, his coaching duties included: 8 years as head middle school boys basketball coach, 3 years as head middle school girls basketball coach, 4 years as assistant middle school football coach. He also served 2 years as the high school boys basketball assistant coach during that time. In 2000, Coach Smith transferred to Sequatchie County High School, after being named head boys basketball coach. While at Sequatchie County High School, Coach Smith served 9 years as the high school assistant baseball coach, 11 years as the high school head volleyball coach, and 17 years as the high school head boys basketball coach, where he closed in on 300 wins and was named Coach of the Year 4 times. Coach Smith also ran the Junior Pro basketball program for many years and coached recreational and select softball for several years.
     
    Coach Jason Smith is a lifelong resident of the area and a 1984 graduate of Sequatchie County High School. Coach Smith received his Bachelor’s of Science degree in Health, Physical Education and Recreation from UT Chattanooga, where he received the HPER most outstanding PE major of the year award in 1991. He then received his Master’s degree in Instructional Leadership from Tennessee Tech University in 2012.
     
    Coach Smith is married to Devona Smith, principal of SCMS. They have 2 daughters, Jordan and Abby, who are both former students and athletes of Sequatchie County Schools. During his spare time, he enjoys fishing, being outdoors, watching sporting events, and spending time with his family.
